Resilient Under Pressure: Jiu-Jitsu & Nervous System Mastery
Wisdom’s Wellness & Consulting LLC and Blackstar MMA & Kickboxing pair up
May 17th, 2025, something truly special took place, an event that not only pushed physical limits but also sparked meaningful conversations around mental health. The workshop, which combined the discipline of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) with discussions on trauma recovery, mental wellness, and stress management, left an indelible mark on everyone who attended.
The event brought together veterans, law enforcement officers, first responders, and community members in a space dedicated to healing, both mentally and physically. For many, it was a chance to experience firsthand how martial arts can be more than just a workout; it’s a tool for emotional resilience and stress reduction.
Honoring Our Heroes: UTRGV Week of Valor & Brain Health Innovation
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Military and Veteran Success Center once again showcased its unwavering commitment to those who served by hosting a powerful Week of Valor during Veterans Day. This annual event brings together student veterans, military-connected families, and community partners to celebrate service, foster connection, and introduce innovative ways to support veterans’ ongoing well-being.
This past year, Wisdom’s Wellness & Consulting LLC was honored to be invited to the UTRGV campus to participate in this meaningful celebration. As part of the week’s activities, we had the opportunity to introduce veterans and students to cutting-edge brain health technology through a live demonstration of the MediBand neurofeedback device.
RGV Epilepsy Support Group
I am forever grateful for the Epilepsy Foundation, an organization that has walked with me through some of my darkest times. Their support has meant more than just resources or medical guidance it’s been a lifeline, offering community, understanding, and empowerment when I needed it most.
Thank you to everyone who joined us on May 16th at the RGV Epilepsy Support Group. Our conversation about PTSD in caregivers is just the beginning. Our healing matters too.
